تحولت شركة سيمبيان من شركة عادية إلى مؤسسة غير ربحية Non-Profit Foundation
من جانب آخر أعلنت المؤسسة الغير ربحية أنها ستتجه نحو توحيد منصة واجهة الـ Symbian اعتماداً بشكل رئيسي على واجهة النوكيا S60 وأخذاً ببعض التقنيات من واجهة السوني/موتورولا UIQ حيث أعلنت كل الأطراف عن الأمر وتوحيد التقنيات
يذكر أن أول الأجهزة التي ستتضمن الواجهة الموحدة الجديدة سيعلن عنها في النصف الأول من 2010.. وسيتم اعتماد نسب متفاوتة من التقنيات بين واجهات S60 و UIQ وذلك للحفاظ على أعلى مستوى التوافق حيث ستتوافق الواجهة الموحدة مع تطبيقات S60 الحالية على سبيل المثال...

Mobile leaders to unify the Symbian software platform and set the future of mobile free
Foundation to be established to provide royalty-free open platform and
accelerate innovation
LONDON, UK; June 24, 2008 -- Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and NTT DOCOMO announced today their intent to unite Symbian OS™, S60, UIQ and MOAP(S) to create one open mobile software platform. Together with AT&T, LG Electronics, Samsung Electronics, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments and Vodafone they plan to establish the Symbian Foundation to extend the appeal of this unified software platform. Membership of this non-profit Foundation will be open to all organizations. This initiative is supported by current shareholders and management of Symbian Limited, who have been actively involved in its development. Plans for the Foundation have already received wide support from other industry leaders.
To enable the Foundation, Nokia today announced plans to acquire the remaining shares of Symbian Limited that Nokia does not already own and then contribute the Symbian and S60 software to the Foundation. Sony Ericsson and Motorola today announced their intention to contribute technology from UIQ and DOCOMO has also indicated its willingness to contribute its MOAP(S) assets. From these contributions, the Foundation will provide a unified platform with common UI framework. A full platform will be available for all Foundation members under a royalty-free license, from the Foundation’s first day of operations.
Contributions from Foundation members through open collaboration will be integrated to further enhance the platform. The Foundation will make selected components available as open source at launch. It will then work to establish the most complete mobile software offering available in open source. This will be made available over the next two years and is intended to be released under Eclipse Public License (EPL) 1.0.
The Foundation’s platform will build on the leading open mobile software platform, with more than 200 million phones, across 235 models, already shipped by multiple vendors and tens of thousands of third-party applications already available for Symbian OS-based devices.
“Ten years ago, Symbian was established by far sighted players to offer an advanced open operating system and software skills to the whole mobile industry”, said Nigel Clifford, CEO of Symbian. “Our vision is to become the most widely used software platform on the planet and indeed today Symbian OS leads its market by any measure. Today's announcement is a bold new step to achieve that vision by embracing a complete and proven platform, offered in an open way, designed to stimulate innovation which is at the heart of everything we do.”

Foundation members share the vision that the Foundation will unify the software platform, supercharge innovation and accelerate the availability of new services and compelling experiences for consumers and business users around the world. The combined platform is already one of the most advanced and widely used mobile platforms, making it highly attractive for all ecosystem partners, including developers, mobile operators, content and service providers and device manufacturers.
The Foundation is expected to start operating during the first half of 2009, subject to the closing of the acquisition of Symbian Ltd by Nokia

وهل يعني نظام الأجهزة رح يصير متشابه ؟؟؟
الموضوع ليس من سيمبيان نفسها ولكن الموضوع من نوكيا ،،، حيث أعلنت نوكيا اليوم رسميا عن اتجاهها الى اتمام صفقة لشراء شركة Symbian, مطورة أنظمةالتشغيل الخاصة بالأجهزة المحمولة و التي تستخدمها Nokia في عدد هائل من الهواتفالتي تباع حول العالم, بشكل كامل. لاأحد يدري تحديدا ما الذي دفع Nokia لاتخاذ هذةالخطوة الآن فقط و هي التي تسيطر بشكل شبه كامل على نظام Symbian و يكفيها أنهاأكبر مطوري النظام و صاحبة أكبر حصة من الهواتف التي تعمل بأنظمة Symbian علىاختلاف إصداراتها. لكن بأي حال فنوكيا و التي تملك بالفعل 48% من أسهم Symbian تنوياتمام صفقة قيمتها 264 مليون يورو لإحكام سيطرتها التامة على الشركة و شراء 52% منأسهم الشركة هو ما تبقى لها لتصبح Symbian ملكا لها بشكل كامل.
الأسهمالباقية تمتلكها مجموعة كبيرة من الشركات التي تستخدم معظمها نسخ من أنظمة Symbian في عدد من أجهزتها و لكنها بلا شك لا تعتمد على النظام بمثل اعتماد Nokia عليه, الشركات هي Sony Ericsson, Panasonic Mobile, Siemens و Samsung.
أكثر مايلفت الانتباه في الأمر ليس هذة الصفقة و لكنه الإعلان الذي تبع هذة الصفقة حيثأعلنت Nokia كذلك عن تأسيس تحالف جديد يحمل الاسم Symbian Foundation و يهدف الىجعل نظام Sybmian نظام تشغيل مفتوح المصدر و متاح للجميع بشكل مجاني (هل تذكركم هذةالكلمات بشئ ما ؟؟). Symbian Foundation هو تحالف يضم شركات Nokia, AT&T, LG Electronics, Motorola, NTT DOCOMO, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments و Vodafone.
من الواضح أن الأمر لم يعد سرا على أحد, يبدولنا بجلاء في الوقت الحالي أن Nokia قد أدركت خطورة تحالف الهاتف المفتوح و نظام Android القادم و سارعت بمواجهة هذا الخطر قبل أن ينشأ. و لكن ما يحمله لنا هذا مندلالة يتجاوز مجرد التنافس بين نظامي تشغيل و لكنه يحمل لنا دلالة تشير الى طبيعةسوق أنظمة تشغيل الهواتف المحمولة في المرحلة القادمة, هذة السوق تبدو لي متجهةبخطى ثابتة نحو الانفتاح, المصدر المفتوح و التحالفات الكبرى, فباتمام انشاء تحالف Symbian Foundation سيصبح لدينا 4 أنظمة مفتوحة المصدر بالكامل و حرة و هي نظام Symbian, Android, Ubuntu Mobile و LiMo على الرغم من أن الوقت مازال مبكرا للتنبأبطبيعة المنافسة بين هذة الأنظمة الثلاثة نظرا لأن أي منهم لم يكتمل نموه بعد بمافي ذلك Symbian و الذي سيلزمه بعض الوقت للتحول الى نظام حر و مفتوح إلا أن الدلالةواضحة و الهواتف الذكية مقبلة على مرحلة من التغير الغير مسبوق و الذي تشكل أنظمةالتشغيل نواة هذا التغير.
بصراحة لم يتم ذكر شراء نوكيا للسمبيان
ولكن كم ذكر الاخوة انها الان اصبحت نظام مفتوح بالكامل اي شركة او شخص ممكن يطور النظام
وهو رد من سمبيان على الاندرويد وابل وغيرها
لانه بحالة اصبح السمبيان مفتوح وفي شركات كثير بتعرف فيه رح تساعد على تتطورة بشكل كبير وسريع وايضا رح ينطبق على اليو اي كيو تبع السوني اريكسون وهو رح يزيد المنافسة بشكل قوي
